After dismissed lawsuit, weed is still decriminalized in San Marcos — for now
A Hays County judge dismissed a lawsuit filed against the City of San Marcos in response to a proposition decriminalizing low-level marijuana possession. Judge Sherri Tibbe dropped Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s suit against San Marcos on Monday. Paxton has already filed a motion to appeal the dismissal, according to the city.

Suspect arrested, charged with murder in SE Austin apartment stabbing
A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal stabbing at a southeast Austin apartment complex on Wednesday, police said. The Austin Police Department responded to a "shoot/stab hot shot call" at the Array Apartments, located at 2101 Burton Drive, at approximately 10:29 a.m. Officers and Austin-Travis County EMS medics found a man with injuries consistent with a stab wound. Despite life-saving measures, the victim, identified as 23-year-old Javier Antonio Navarro Quesada, was pronounced dead at the scene.

CapMetro introduces new completely electric bike fleet
AUSTIN, Texas — Capital Metro (CapMetro) is rolling out a new fleet of bikes to rent throughout downtown, and this time they’re 100% electric. Previously, Austin's bike-sharing program MetroBike operated a fleet of electric and manual bikes downtown, but CapMetro recently acquired them. They also started partnering with the City of Austin, getting them about $21 million to revamp the program including an $11.3 million Transportation Alternative Set-Aside (TASA) grant that was awarded to the city in 2023.

AUSTIN, Texas — On Friday, Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas held a celebration and ribbon cutting, in celebration of the medical center's expansion. The hospital's neurocritical care unit is receiving another 15 beds, bringing its total to 30 beds. Shahed Toossi, the Medical Director of the Neurocritical Care Unit, says there has been an increase in need for this care over the past two decades.
