Workshop focuses on utility-scale solar options
Hoosiers are poised to shape their future through informed advocacy for healthy, resilient communities and increased integration of renewables into its energy mix. The Center for Energy Education last week hosted a renewable energy workshop in Crawfordsville, specifically focusing on utility-scale solar projects, to outline and inform communities of the role of renewables within the energy and workforce landscape as it continues to evolve and diversify.
Barton named to IU Dean’s List
BLOOMINGTON — Allyson Barton of Crawfordsville has been named to the School of Pubic Health-Bloomington Dean’s List at Indiana University for the spring semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must be complete at least 12 credit hours and earn at least a 3.80 semester GPA.
Mustangs sweep their way to sectional title
VEEDERSBURG — Fountain Central girls tennis has a special team led by special coaches in Chris Webb and David Kight. Friday, FC found themselves playing for yet another sectional title after taking down Parke Heritage in the semi-finals 5-0. The only team that stood in the Mustangs way was WRC rival Covington. With a sectional championship trophy on the line, FC had little trouble dispatching their rivals and were 5-0 winners to capture the programs 14th sectional title.
Chargers end SAC play with sweep of Mounties
LINDEN — North Montgomery and Southmont baseball concluded their Sagamore Conference slate on Friday with the Mounties making the trip to Charger Field. With a 10-0 win in five innings the Chargers ended conference play with a 9-5 record which tied them with Western Boone for second place. It moved North to 16--7 on the season. Southmont ended the conference season at 0-14 and are now 1-18 on the season.

Ortez earns degree at UAMS
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences conferred degrees and certificates to 1,134 students in its five colleges and graduate school. Among the graduates was Jessika Ortez of Crawfordsville who earned a bachelor of science degree in medical laboratory science.
Arline Mae Hayden
Arline Mae Hayden, 90, of rural Crawfordsville went to heaven on May 21, 2024, having lived a full and happy life. Her last days were surrounded by family in a loving huddle. Arline was the youngest of three daughters born to the late Earl and Emma Schooler. She graduated from Pike High School in 1951 and married her school sweetheart, Bill, on May 4, 1952. They celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to his passing, and she was very devoted to him to the very end. Together, they brought a farm back to life, grew grain, raised livestock, and four children. The oldest, Diane, preceded Arline in death.
