DWTS sets fundraising records
After a three-year hiatus, Franciscan Health Crawfordsville and the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau put on a dazzling show for record crowds at Wabash College Fieldhouse. Montgomery County Dancing With The Stars was a sold-out event featuring nine dancing duos competing for various titles and awards. More than 800 dinner guests and dancers cheered, clapped and swayed to the outstanding performances.

I-74 crash sends two to Indy hospital
WAYNETOWN — A two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning involving a passenger car and a semi tractor-trailer on Interstate 74 sent two people to the hospital. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported that at 11:18 a.m. deputies were dispatched to a crash with unknown injuries on Interstate 74 near the 26.5 mile-marker. Initial reports were that this crash involved a semi tractor-trailer and a passenger car.
MCCF awards first cycle of grants for 2023
Montgomery County Community Foundation gathered Wednesday to award grant checks to 10 grant recipients in the first grant cycle of 2023. MCCF Chief Executive Officer, Kelly Taylor welcomed everyone and thanked the nonprofit leaders for the work they do in our community. Teeter appointed assistant police chief
Ryan Teeter, has been promoted to assistant police chief by Chief Aaron Mattingly. Teeter is a 2012 Crawfordsville High School graduate hired by the Crawfordsville Police Department in November 2015 and attended the police academy in 2016. He has been with the Crawfordsville Police Department for eight years, started his career as a patrol officer, was promoted to a patrol sergeant, and in November 2020 he began working investigations.

The Mary Bishop Memorial Gallery at the Crawfordsville District Public Library would like to invite the public to view the work of local woodworker, Dennis Furr. This exhibit is currently open and will be on display through June 9. The public is welcome to visit the gallery during CDPL’s regular hours of operation and we encourage you to view these beautifully crafted functional artworks. During this exhibit, a limited amount of work will be available for sale through the Circulation department.

Chamber holds ribbon cutting for Sanders Funeral Care
The Crawfordsville/Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce celebrated with owners, David and Mandy Sanders, of Sanders Funeral Care with a ribbon cutting for their newly renovated location in Waynetown. The event started off memorable with the raising of the flag for the first time by the Legion Post 72 Honor Guard.
Commissioners OK subdivision
Montgomery County Commissioners approved a re-zoning requesgt for a new subdivision in the county after a public hearing on Monday. The acreage was zoned agriculture and will now be zoned residential. The new subdivision is located just west of Shannondale in the 1000 block of S.R. 32 East. It contains nine acres and will be divided into three lots.
Officials announce solar co-op for Tippecanoe and Montgomery counties
Officials with the national nonprofit Solar United Neighbors visited Lafayette and Crawfordsville this week for the launch of a solar co-op across Tippecanoe and Montgomery counties. Officials hope the co-op incentivizes residents and businesses to purchase solar panels. Co-ops want to lower the costs of panels through bulk community purchases.
MCCF recognizes volunteers at annual meeting
Montgomery County Community Foundation held its annual meeting Thursday at the Hoosier Heartland State Bank’s Success Center. President Jim McBee presided over the meeting. Following the standard items of business, outgoing and incoming board members were recognized. The lone outgoing board member was Jim McBee. During his two terms, in addition to serving as president, he was a former vice president and treasurer. He chaired the investment committee, the audit and finance committee and was on the executive committee.
Solar co-op launches in Tippecanoe and Montgomery Counties
CRAWFORDSVILLE — Today, Crawfordsville Mayor Todd Barton, Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski, and partners joined Solar United Neighbors (SUN) to launch the Tippecanoe and Montgomery Counties Solar and EV Charger Co-op. The co-op is free to join. It is an opportunity for local homeowners and businesses to go solar together and support both counties’ commitment to sustainability.
Chamber welcomes newly-opened Ice Creams La Michoacana
The Crawfordsville/Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce was excited to host a ribbon cutting for the grand opening of Ice Creams La Michoacana which is owned by the Schu family. This Hispanic-owned business offers a wide variety of ice cream with an option for toppings, yogurt parfaits, natural-juice popsicles, Mexican corn (Esquite), Mangonadas and more.
