As a part of their Leader in Me program, Turkey Run Elementary students received Habit Hero Awards. Habit Hero awards are given to students who set an example by being a good leader and demonstrate one of the seven habits. Awards are presented by staff members to students who they believe have excelled in one of the habits. The Montgomery County Community Foundation announced Thursday that it has been selected as a recipient of the Early Years Initiative from Early Learning Indiana. The Early Years Initiative is a $50 million competitive grant program focused on enhancing the learning and development of infants and toddlers in Indiana communities. Reabe facilitates the Indiana Youth Group’s Drop-In Tuesdays, a weekly event for LGBTQ+ youth in Montgomery County. It’s a new venture, in fact, IYG picked Crawfordsville as its first-ever satellite, part of a plan to expand across Indiana to give LGBTQ+ (and allies) safe spaces, mental health counseling and resources because these young people often struggle and usually in many ways.
