Town in Prince George’s County becomes first in Maryland to install stop sign cameras

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Town of Cottage City in Maryland is making major safety strides.

The Prince George’s County town is the first in the state to implement stop sign cameras, a move made to enhance public safety.

The Cottage City Police Department announced Wednesday that the town is partnering with Obvio, a tech firm based out of California. The firm designs and develops traffic management systems, aligning with Cottage City’s goal to reduce traffic-related incidents.

“By deploying stop sign cameras, we aim to promote greater adherence to traffic regulations, thereby fostering a culture of responsible driving and enhancing overall road safety. We are confident that this initiative will have a positive impact on the well-being of our community members,” Cotatg City Chief of Police Anthony L. Ayers, Sr. said in a press release.
