NEW LONDON TOWNSHIP (WJON News) -- Three people were hurt in a car crash near Spicer on Saturday afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol says at about 4:00 p.m. an SUV driven by 76-year-old Thomas Fox of Spicer was going west on 132nd Ave Northeast and crossing Highway 23 when it collided with an SUV driven by 28-year-old Travis Lamecker of Willmar that was traveling North on Highway 23.

A statewide missing person alert has been issued for a Minnesota teenager. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says 16-year-old Cheyenne Cadena of Glencoe has not been at her residence since Sunday and has had no contact with friends through social media since Monday. Her case is currently classified as a missing person/juvenile runaway.

New contest celebrates school districts who serve Minnesota Grown foods. St. Paul, MN: Three Minnesota School districts have been named a 2023 Minnesota Grown Farm to School District of the Year by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s (MDA) Minnesota Grown Program. This first-ever statewide contest recognizes schools for their exceptional efforts to serve and promote foods grown in the state to their students.

Two incidents occurred in Willmar, Minnesota this week. In the first incident, a driver was injured in a one-vehicle crash when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree. The second incident involved an SUV rear-ending a loaded school bus, causing minor damage but no injuries to the students on board.

(Benson MN-) A settlement conference for a former Benson elementary school teacher accused of sexually molesting some students takes place this afternoon at 230 PM. 60-year-old Roger Ebnet has pled not guilty to three counts of criminal sexual conduct. He is accused of sexually molesting two of his 2nd grade students during class at Northside Elementary in Benson November 30th and December 1st 2022.. Ebnet is currently free on bail, and is asking for a change of venue. Attorney Daniel Mohs does not believe Ebnet can get a fair trial in Swift County. Judge Melissa Listug has granted a defense motion to change the venue for Ebnet's trial to Meeker County. They claimed Ebnet could not get a fair trial in Swift County due to pre-trial publicity. Listug also agreed to a prosecution motion to seek a harsher sentence, if he is convicted, because of the vulnerability and the age of his alleged victims, 7 and 8 years old. Ebnet is free on bail.

This week in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, there were three notable incidents. A fire destroyed a garage and caused significant damage to a nearby residence in Pennock. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the incident is currently under investigation. In another incident, a dog fell through thin ice on West Twin Lake near Spicer and had to be rescued by a deputy. Lastly, a 15-year-old driver rear-ended a loaded school bus in Willmar, causing minor damage but no injuries.

(Forest City MN-) The 27th Annual Pioneer Christmas takes place at The Forest City Stockade north of Litchfield Saturday from 10 to 5. Admission is 5 dollars, 12 and under are free. Visitors can see what the holidays might have been like for early settlers, with pioneer crafts, sleigh rides and a pioneer trading post. You can try your hand at making old fashioned Christmas ornaments, walk the new walkway, and of course see Santa. There will be live Christmas music, a winter encampment with a teepee, wall tent and an A-Frame. Pioneer day-styled food will be available all day including cream can stew, homemade ice cream, fry bread and lefse, old fashioned root beer and coffee. Dress warm for the outdoor activities and see the new Nelson Barn.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is developing a Stormwater Resilience Plan for Hutchinson. The plan's goal is to identify flood-prone areas, evaluate risks, propose projects to reduce flooding, and calculate implementation costs. The agency is gathering data, creating a regional stormwater model, and planning stormwater improvement projects for Hutchinson's northern half.

(Willmar MN-) The Willmar City Council meets Monday night at 630 in the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building Board Room. A Truth in Taxation Hearing for next year's budget will take place...for 2024, the Tax Levy would increase by $996,318 and the City of Willmar's budget would be set at $67,692,360. And the council will consider increasing the salary of City Administrator Leslie Valiant. The agenda for the meeting did not list what Valiant's salary would be increased to.
