Chestnut Street building was being refurbished at the time of the fire

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Fire Department is continuing to investigate a structure fire that occurred shortly before noon Monday at 555 Chestnut St.

Chief Rusty Dreher said he expected to release more details later on Tuesday. There is no information yet regarding cause or extent of damage. The exterior appears largely unmarred. No injuries were reported.

Mayor Mark Mills said the building was being refurbished as rental apartments. He said contractors were working at the time of the fire and reported it to authorities. The building was most recently home to the Folland & Drown Law Offices, but has housed many businesses over the years.

Multiple fire companies were on the scene for several hours with smoke and flames observable from the roof. Mills said the fire possibly started in the attic. Sixth Street from Chestnut to Main streets was closed while fire personnel were on scene.
