Conyers residents are breathing a sigh of relief as the city's Storm Assistance Program, a lifeline for those grappling with the aftermath of an April 3 EF2 tornado, is nearing its end. Rolled out on April 10, the initiative was a focused effort to help the hardest hit locals who lacked the resources for storm damage cleanup. To date, 33 out of 39 eligible applications within city limits have seen their debris cleared, with the final six, those facing the brunt of destruction, set to have their situations resolved within the next week, according to the City of Conyers.
