COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – A list of Yelp’s highest-rated ice cream shops in the Columbus area includes a variety of options from Italian gelato to Mexican frozen desserts.
Taking the number one spot is Dulce Vida, located at 7370 Sawmill Road in the Foxboro neighborhood. The ice cream shop, selling a variety of Mexican sweet treats and snacks, also has locations in Plain City, Westland and Northern Woods.
“Some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had!” One Yelp user wrote. “The staff was very friendly and they have a lot of unique flavors!”
Coming in second place is Coppa Gelato, located at 925 N. State St. in Westerville. The shop sells Italian gelato, which is typically healthier and denser than ice cream. Reviews praise the shop’s “delicious” and “creamy” flavors.
The third highest-rated ice cream parlor in the Columbus area is Little Ladies Soft Serve, located at 673 Worthington Road in Westerville. Yelp users highlight the shop’s large portions and extensive topping options.
In fourth place is Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, located at 160 S. High St. in Dublin. Jeni’s, with seven more central Ohio locations, is known for its unique flavors, such as “Maple Soaked Pancakes” and “Middle West Whiskey & Pecans.” Reviews praise the shop’s friendly staff and rich flavors.
The fifth highest-rated ice cream shop is Diamonds Ice Cream, located at 5461 Bethel Sawmill Center in the Crown Ridge neighborhood. The family-owned business serves authentic Mexican ice pops, snacks and ice cream.
“Diamonds is one of the best ice cream spots in Columbus!” One Yelp user wrote. “They have unique flavors and a wide variety. The staff is happy to answer questions and provide samples.”
Taking sixth place is Graeter’s Ice Cream, located at 2282 E. Main St. in Bexley. The Cincinnati-based chain has over 50 locations across the Midwest, and is known for its signature flavors such as black raspberry chocolate chip. Yelp-users compliment the shop’s chocolate chips and fresh ice cream.
Coming in seventh place is Mardi Gras Homemade Ice Cream, located at 1947 Hard Road in the Summerwood neighborhood. Reviews rave about the ice cream shop’s wide variety of “intriguing” flavors and its reasonable prices.
The eighth highest-rated ice cream spot is Dell’s Homemade Ice Cream & Coffee, located at 9345 Dublin Road in the Shawnee Hills neighborhood. The eatery, which features a drive-thru, serves ice cream, coffee, smoothies, milkshakes, sandwiches and snacks. Visitors said they enjoyed the shop’s “creamy” and “interesting” flavors.
In ninth place is Handel’s Ice Cream, located at 5665 Feder Rd in the Wexford-Thornapple neighborhood. The ice cream shop also has a location in Powell.
“Handel's is hands down my new favorite ice cream spot,” one review reads. “They have the best ice cream and so many flavors to choose from. I've never driven past once without [there] being people at the window ordering. It's always busy no matter the time of year, which I think speaks to everyone's love for it.”
Coming in tenth place is Kilwins, located at 662 North High St. in the Short North. Kilwins, with another location in Dublin, sells fudge, chocolates and ice cream. Reviews highlight the shop’s friendly staff and “freshly made” waffle cones.
