Ohio man convicted following series of armed pharmacy robberies in PA

Pittsburgh, PA ( WJET/WFXP ) — An Ohio man was found guilty following a string of armed robberies targeted at western Pennsylvania pharmacies.

Abdulrahman Abdelaziz Jamea, formally of Columbus, Ohio, was tried before United States Senior District Judge Arthur J. Schwab in Pittsburgh regarding over half a dozen charges involving armed robbery and possession of controlled substances.

On March 21, after a two-and-a-half-hour deliberation, a federal jury found Jamea guilty of seven crimes committed in Pennsylvania between September 2018 through July 2019.

Those crimes include one count each of conspiracy to commit armed pharmacy robbery and conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances, three counts of armed pharmacy robbery and two counts of pharmacy robbery.

Judge Schwab scheduled sentencing for July 31, 2024. The maximum sentencing Jamea could face for this conviction is 25 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 or both.

Jamea is currently serving a prison sentence of more than 40 years following a previous conviction in Ohio for multiple counts of felonious assault with a firearm.

The following law enforcement departments helped in the investigation leading to Jamea’s conviction: The Drug Enforcement Administration, Pennsylvania State Police, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Erie Police Department, Edinboro Police Department, Beaver Police Department, Bridgeville Police Department and Ohio Highway Patrol.
