    Suspect arrested in 2023 deadly shooting of 16-year-old boy in Columbus, police say

    An arrest has been made in the February 2023 shooting death of a 16-year-old boy in Columbus, according to the Columbus Police Department.

    Police said Donquerious King has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of DaMarcus Faison.

    Police said officers responded on Feb. 16, 2023, to the 400 block of Mt. Pleasant Drive to a shooting. Responding officers found Faison lying in the front yard of a residence with a citizen performing CPR on him, according to a news release.

    Faison was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional where he was pronounced dead at 6:27 p.m., according to Ledger-Enquirer reporting .

    Police said King was already in the Muscogee County Jail on unrelated charges and was served at the jail with the new charges:

    • Murder
    • Armed Robbery
    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime

    King is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m., Wednesday, in Recorder’s Court, according to police.
