4-star CB Onis Konanbanny names Vols leader after 865 Live visit

Columbia (S.C.) Heathwood Hall High School standout cornerback Onis Konanbanny returned to Rocky Top on Saturday for Tennessee’s 865 Live Memorial Day recruiting event. Following the event, he broke down the visit with Volquest. You can see the full video interview above.

“I loved everything,” Konanbanny said of the visit. “Just coming back here for another time, just kicking it with the staff, seeing some of my friends, seeing some of my teammates come here, too, and they’re just having fun. And just having fun here. It was really fun. “My favorite part of the day, I think it was the scavenger hunt, just running around, being active and just having fun around campus, and just actually seeing campus while I was having fun running around, that was fun. I’d say that was my favorite thing.”

Konanbanny spent time with the entire staff, especially veteran defensive backs coach Willie Martinez, throughout the visit.

“It was just a big, whole family,” Konanbanny said of the time with the time and what stood out about it. “Just how fun it was and how the business side of things just pulled aside, and it’s just about you having fun and just getting to know the staff. It was just, how have things been going? How did I finish out my soccer season and what not?”

Following the visit, the four-star cornerback said the Vols are “for sure” his leader heading into a month of official visits.

“Today, it kind of solidified it,” Konanbanny said. “Just because today wasn’t about no recruiting spiel. It was just about me having fun, and just the staff and just being around the staff and being around some of my teammates and stuff. It was just the presence of being here. I love it here. This is where I see myself playing.”

Konanbanny will start taking official visits next weekend at Florida State. He will then head to North Carolina and Penn State before returning to Tennessee the weekend of June 21st.

He does not have a definitive decision date in mind, but he does plan to make a decision before the start of his senior season.
