College Football Powerhouse Faces Criticism For Failure To Turn Top Recruiting Classes Into Wins

Recruiting is the lifeblood of college football programs. If a team fails to consistently recruit at a high level, the program will not see much success on the field. For some programs, however, their recent recruiting wins have also failed to bring wins between the hashes.

Texas A&M has consistently signed elite recruiting classes but has struggled to put a winning product on the field. The Aggies' average recruiting class ranking has been 10.25 since 2021, but their record over that same span is barely over .500 at only 19-17.

College football fans have not been shy to rip into A&M over that same period. For all the money they paid Jimbo Fisher and their massive NIL base not to produce a very successful program has drawn tons of criticism.

Fisher was not dealing with anything close to a rebuilding roster during his time in College Station. Three of the Aggies' top-seven recruits of all time were members of the 2022 class.

His failure to produce with all the talent and resources is what led to his dismissal, and the administration in Aggie Land is hoping that new head coach Mike Elko will be able to turn it around.

In an era of college football that is so focused on acquiring talent, not succeeding when you have an elite roster at your disposal is no longer tolerated.

For the Aggies, their fans, and their boosters, patience may be starting to run out.
