PRINCE GEOREGE'S COUNTY, Md. - A Bowie police officer jumped into a nearby pond to save a young boy and his dog from drowning. According to the police, they received a call shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday night for a report of a dog floating in a pond. They were told the dog appeared to be struggling.
Encampments at Foggy Bottom cleared, displacing about 50 people
Clearing of encampments at Foggy Bottom – where dozens of people without housing were living – began Thursday morning, and are expected to continue through Monday. The encampments span multiple sites, including San Martin Memorial Park and Whitman Park, encompassing both federal and D.C. land. The National Park Service says it put out notice in October that it would start clearing federal land Wednesday, but it postponed activity by a day due to inclement weather conditions. The District says they put out notice in April.
