CLOVIS, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) – The Ninth Judicial District Attorney Quentin Ray reported on Monday that a Clovis man was recently found guilty by a jury in Curry County for two counts of “Battery Upon a Peace Officer”

The District Attorney’s Office detailed that on October 5, 2021 officers were dispatched to 209 West for a public disturbance and were informed en route that 46-year-old Francisco Arzola was at the address making threats towards others and had an active warrant for alleged failure to pay fines out of Municipal Court.

Officials detailed that officers made contact with Arzola and while attempting to arrest Arzola, he became non-compliant and resisted arrest, punched one officer in the neck, and scratched another officer.

Officials added that a sentencing hearing will be set at a later date.
