Florence must pay more than $2 million in alcohol taxes
Lauderdale County and Florence City leaders are scrambling to find solutions to a more than $2 million debt. State auditors recently discovered a major discrepancy. The letter sent to the Florence City Clerk-Treasurer's Office in January said cities in Lauderdale county must give 1/3 of their alcohol sales earnings back to the county.

Ground Broken for Pickleball, Tennis
FLORENCE – The city of Florence broke ground June 5 on a new Pickleball/Tennis Complex at Veterans Memorial Park. This is an exciting new community addition will provide top-tier facilities for tennis and pickleball enthusiasts. The $9.4 million project is expected to be completed in 300 days. B.H. Craig Construction was the low bidder for the project.
