CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — It is an exciting time of year for high school students with prom and graduation season soon. Local school districts are highlighting the importance of safe driving.

A driving simulator stopped by Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park on Thursday. It gave students a chance to experience the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. Organizers said they hope to provide a memorable experience, so the lessons students learn stick with them for a long time.

“We hope that even if a few kids get out of the car every day at the schools thinking, ‘I will never try that in real life now, it seems pretty dangerous,’ then that’s a successful day,” Arrive Alive Tour Route Representative Jalen Burress said.

The company that runs the simulator is based in Michigan but travels to schools around the country. They also said they have the only marijuana driving simulator in the United States.
