Fire burns vacant commercial building in downtown Concord
Contra Costa County crews contained a two-alarm blaze in downtown Concord early Tuesday morning, fire officials said. A fire struck a commercial structure in the area of Sunset Avenue and East Street in Concord, the Contra Costa County Fire Department said on social media just before 1 a.m. Around 30 minutes later, the fire department said the blaze had been knocked down. Fire crews continued to pour water on the building throughout the morning to put out hot spots.The building was vacant, according to firefighters. No injuries were reported. The public is still advised to avoid the area and roads have been closed in downtown Concord because of the fire.The following roads were closed: - Clayton Road and Oakland Avenue - Clayton Road and Grant Street - Park and Grant streets - Colfax Street and Concord Boulevard - East Street and Concord Boulevard - First Street and Sinclair Avenue - BART parking lot on Park Street
On 4-29-2024 at approximately 10:23 pm calls came in for a structure fire on Sunset St and East St located in Concord Ca. Upon Arrival Heavy flames were showing and upgraded to a Working Structure fire and also upgraded to a 2nd Alarm. Units are still on scene but are getting a good handle on it. It was a vacant building with a parking garage below. The Cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation by the Fire Investigators.

Police seek suspect in double homicide at Livermore hotel
Police in Livermore asked for the public's help Thursday in finding a man suspected in a double homicide at a hotel last weekend.The incident happened Saturday at the La Quinta Inn on Southfront Road at about 6:45 a.m. Livermore police said officers responding to a shooting arrived to find a 26-year-old Oakland woman and a 21-year-old Hayward man shot to death inside a room.Investigators identified the suspect as 30-year-old Yonston Vazquez of Oakland.Police said Vazquez remained at large and was considered armed and dangerous. On Thursday, police released photos of Vazquez in the hope members of the public would recognize him. Anyone with information on Vazquez's whereabouts was urged to call Livermore Police Department's anonymous tip line at (925) 371-4790.The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau will release the victims' identities once all family members are notified.The deaths were Livermore's first and second homicides of the year.
