Nonprofit helps Trinity Episcopal secure solar through Georgia BRIGHT program
Last month, with the help of Georgia Interfaith Power and Light (GIPL), Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesboro, Georgia became the first faith community in the state to sign a solar energy procurement agreement (SEPA) with Georgia BRIGHT—a first-of-its-kind solar program designed to help low to moderate-income communities cut power bills and carbon emissions. The church entered GIPL’s Solar-Wise program in 2020, feeling a faithful call to better steward Sacred Earth. Join Bulloch Solutions for their 2024 Annual Meeting Thursday, May 23rd, at 1pm at Connection Church, located at 1342 Cawana Road in Statesboro. All Co-Op members should make plans to attend. Registration for the Annual Meeting will begin promptly at noon and will close at 1pm. Annual Meeting attendance is imperative for continued success of Bulloch Telephone Co-Op. Why does a Telephone Cooperative Meeting matter to me? Member attendance at the Annual Meeting matters for a number of reasons, but primarily for the continued operation of the cooperative in general. Members and guests will hear an update on the progress of the Co-Op. Presentations include reports on the financial statements from the year prior, highlights from plans on what’s ahead for the company, and successes and challenges from the last year. And perhaps most importantly, Bulloch Solutions employs locals and invests back into the community. Plus, there will be a host of prizes for those who attend. For starters, the attendees will receive a one-time $50 credit on their monthly bill. Among the other prizes up for grabs are gift cards from local restaurants and businesses and a $500 cash prize! Deal Funeral Directors in Statesboro has learned of a scam targeting families the funeral home has served. Their message about the scam is below. We have been made aware that an individual impersonating funeral home employees is contacting families and asking for additional payment over the phone. Please be aware that our funeral home will not ever call asking for payment or any information over the phone. Please do not pay any individual over the phone, but call the police immediately. If you are ever unsure, you are welcome to call us directly and speak with our staff. Remember, if you are ever unsure about the legitimacy of a call, hang up and DO NOT provide any financial information to the caller. The U.S. Social Security Administration provides the following "red flag" signs that you may be dealing with a scammer: The individual claims there is a problem with your account They put pressure you to act immediately They instruct you to pay in a new, specific way You can call the Statesboro Police Department (912-764-9911) or Bulloch County Sheriff's Department (912-764-8888) to report a scam.
