On Friday, May 10, 2024, Mill Creek Elementary hosted its annual “Real Mustangs Read” event to promote school-wide literacy to its students. The event took place from 9:30am-1pm, and multiple community members participated in the interactive event. The readers ranged from public officials, to local residents, to everyday role models within the community. The overall aim of the event was to emphasize the importance of reading to children in an engaging and memorable way. "This is the first year that we combined our 'Real Men Read' and 'Real Women Read' into one event: 'Real Mustangs Read'," stated Meagan Hendrix, Mill Creek Elementary School Improvement Specialist for ELA. "Overall, we've had many community volunteers come read to our students this morning and help promote schoolwide literacy. It's always exciting for our students to have other adults read to them outside of their teachers. Thank you to everyone who participated this year!" Mark Lefebvre announced as new Bulloch Academy girls basketball coach
Bulloch Academy is excited to introduce the newest addition to their athletics team: Coach Mark Lefebvre as the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. With an impressive coaching career, Coach Lefebvre joins BA after serving as the Head Varsity Boys Coach at Southern Wells High School, where he led his team to a Sectional Championship and a Final Four appearance. Additionally, Coach Lefebvre brings with him a remarkable 12 years of experience coaching varsity girls, during which he achieved incredible success. Under his guidance, his teams secured an outstanding 9 consecutive Sectional titles, made 5 appearances in the Elite 8, and reached the Final Four twice. Coach Lefebvre also currently serves as a coordinator for the football team. Bulloch Academy is coming off of a final 4 appearance and will look to build a new future with a young and talented roster.

The Georgia Southern baseball team bounced back after a rough weekend with a 13-5 victory over the Jacksonville Dolphins in the final game at J.I. Clements Stadium this season. "My boys started school at the elementary, and I was staying home at the time and didn't have a job, so I started volunteering and reading with kids and being there and helping them and I thought, 'this is great.'
