"On Monday, we picked up some tornadoes in the Chicago area, farther north than here,,,and I don't know if anybody's caught it, but Wisconsin had a February tornado...and just two years ago, we had December tornadoes. It's almost kind of funny that we still do these in February, March and April."

Extreme fire danger for much of the Midwest, at the start of this week
BEATRICE – Pickrell Firefighters were sent to a garage fire Sunday afternoon, about two miles north of the community. Beatrice Rural Firefighters were summoned for mutual aid support, but Chief Matt Langley says the Pickrell Department had things under control quickly. A burn barrel being used caught the side of a garage on fire, doing some damage.

"The food pantry did a remodel...they've moved in and I think they've settled in well. CASA moved in, early February. Just here recently, Mother-to-Mother is going to open up a youth center sometime in March...I think that first week in March or second week...so they've taken up the rest of the basement. We remodeled an office upstairs for the I-T office, so they'll be moving upstairs in the next couple of weeks. Then, we've got Keep Beatrice Beautiful there, Main Street..so basically now, we're full capacity."
