    County hosts memorial ceremony for fallen law enforcement officers

    Clark County will recognize law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty locally and throughout Washington during a memorial ceremony at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, Public Service Center Room 680, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver.

    The public ceremony will feature the posting of colors and a bell-ringing ceremony performed by a multi-agency honor guard, a county news release stated.

    In 2024, 58 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty nationally. In recorded history, 319 officers have been killed during service in Washington, the news release stated.

    Fallen law enforcement officers in Clark County include Officer Donald Sahota, Sgt. Jeremy Brown, Sgt. Brad Crawford, Trooper James Gain, Deputy Sheriff Martin Sowders, Trooper Don Campbell Jr., Special Agent Ernest Vlasich, Special Agent Ballard Turner, Sheriff Lester Wood and Deputy Sheriff Wilfred Rorison. Fallen K-9s include Ike, Kane, Dakota, Lucky and Brie.
