Clare police conduct fake traffic stop to help with surprise proposal

The Clare City Police Department conducted an unusual traffic stop over the weekend, in order to surprise a young fiancée-to-be.

David Yoder asked the department to help him with a surprise proposal for his girlfriend, Morgan Bowers, so in stepped Officer Jared Stotzel.

Stotzel pulled the couple over, citing an issue with the car's license plate, and asked Yoder to exit the vehicle to inspect the issue. Yoder called for Bowers to help him at the back of the car ... where Yoder was waiting on one knee.

Bowers said a tear-filled yes, before confirming with Stotzel that the traffic stop was pretend.

"We had this a little bit set up," Yoder said.
