A four-run outburst in the seventh inning and six innings of one-run ball from Garrett Crochet led the Chicago White Sox to a 5-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The victory built upon Saturday's resilient win , and the White Sox earned their first road series win of the year. The South Siders are 5-4 since starting the season 3-22.

The White Sox played a strong game from start to finish and got on the board early, thanks to rookie Bryan Ramos. Ramos opened the game's scoring with an RBI sacrifice fly in his first Major League at-bat.

The White Sox top prospect got his first career hit, a single, in Chicago's four-run seventh inning.

    Ankle Bounce

Crochet cruised through his six innings of work. In the third, he took a Lars Nootbar line drive off his ankle but shook it off and stayed in the game after a few warm-up tosses.

He allowed one run on three hits while striking out six and issuing no walks. The only run the lefty surrendered came from a Willson Contreras solo homer.

    Eruption

With the score knotted at one after Contreras's fourth-inning homer, the Pale hose put a crooked number in the seventh. Eloy Jimenez led off the inning with a tie-breaking solo homer.

Back-to-back doubles by Gavin Sheets and Paul DeJong added another run.

DeJong moved to third on Ramos's base hit before Braden Shewmake plated him with a single to left.

Ramos advanced to third on the play and scored on Robbie Grossman's sacrifice fly.

The White Sox bullpen put together another scoreless afternoon. The trio of Steven Wilson, Jordan Leasure, and John Brebbia one-hit the Cardinals over the final three innings. They fanned five and issued no free passes.

    News And Notes

The White Sox relief crew had an impressive series, holding the Cardinals scoreless over 12 innings. They allowed three hits, three walks, and fanned 14.
