North Myrtle Beach Italian restaurant is opening a second location. Here's where

A North Myrtle Beach Italian restaurant is now opening a second location. Benitos Brick Oven and Pasta at 1598 Highway 17 S. was taken over by new owners three years ago, according to general manager Christian Lavallade. After the success with the restaurant, the owners decided to build a second location at 4410 U.S. 17 South in Murrells Inlet . It will be next door to Luna Mexican Bar and Grill, which is part of the owners’ restaurant group, Lavallade said. The second Benitos will be the “smaller brother” of the two, Lavallade said. While it will offer some of the same items on the original menu, the restaurant will be more upscale, adding steaks and seafood dishes, he said. The restaurant is expected to open in about three to four weeks, pending final inspections, Lavallade said.

Wawa could be coming to Horry County-but some residents aren't happy about it

Wawa could be coming to Horry County. The Planning Commission unanimously approved Thursday plans to allow a new gas station convenience store to open in Little River – but residents aren’t happy. The request, brought by WW LLC as an agent for Baytree SC LLC, sought to amend a 3.14-acre parcel at Water Grande Boulevard and Highway 9 East for a convenience store with gas pumps and a car wash. Although the lot is currently zoned for commercial use, developers needed permission to install gas pumps at the site. The Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain has something of a cult following, particularly for its sandwiches and other fast foods. A new Horry County store would mark the first location in South Carolina. But not everyone’s pleased with Wawa’s plans. Hundreds of residents showed up at the Planning Commission meeting in opposition to the proposed convenience store. Several residents shared public comments expressing concerns that increased traffic would strain infrastructure, endanger public safety and displace wildlife. None of the comments shared as public input were supportive of the plans for a new Wawa. “That intersection is one of the highest collision intersections … I’m already taking my life in my hands trying

The town of Carolina Shores approved plans for a third new location as well, to be constructed near the new Publix site. Construction is currently underway on the Long Beach Road location between a Food Lion-anchored retail area and Hampton Inn & Suites. The walls are up, but it is running behind schedule. Previous coverage: Major doughnut-and-coffee chain to open two more Brunswick stores Both the Supply and Southport area locations are owned by Dunkin' franchisee George Ross and will be completely new builds, former Senior Public Relations Specialist Julia Voutour previously told the StarNews.
