City road, sewer projects to begin soon with detours

CHEBOYGAN — Several construction projects are underway in the City of Cheboygan to improve local roads and utility infrastructure.

Work is set to begin soon on South Huron Street and South Cuyler Street as a part of the Huron Street and Cuyler Street Sanitary Sewer and Water Main Replacement Project.

The project includes roadway reconstruction, sanitary sewer replacement and water main replacement along South Cuyler Street south of Lincoln Avenue. The project also includes roadway reconstruction and sanitary sewer replacement along South Huron Street between Lincoln Avenue and Ashley Avenue.

J&N Construction is the prime contractor performing the work, and will begin setting up detours for construction as early as May 28.

Meanwhile, the city is also improving the roadway and utility infrastructure on Ball Street, Bailey Street, Littlefield Street and the alleyway in between Ball Street and Bailey Street north of Division Street as a part of the Ball Street and Bailey Street Sanitary Sewer and Water Main Replacement Project.

The project includes roadway reconstruction, sanitary sewer replacement, water main replacement and storm sewer work along North Ball Street from Division Street to West First Street and along North Bailey Street from Pine Street to West State Street. The project also includes sanitary sewer replacement along the alleyway between Ball Street and Bailey Street north of Division Street.

J&N Construction is also the prime contractor for this project, and detours could be set as early as May 28.
