Michigan, Ohio Gas Prices Spike Further Amid Refinery Breakdown

Gas prices in two Midwestern battleground states saw further hikes on Thursday as the region’s market grapples with a refinery issue in Illinois. In Michigan, prices rose to $4.74 a gallon on Thursday, up from $4.59 a gallon on Wednesday, according to GasBuddy, a fuel savings app that tracks prices in live time. In Ohio, prices stood at $4.34 a gallon, up from $4.05 a gallon on Wednesday. GasBuddy’s prices differ slightly from those released by AAA, which issues nightly updates on prices.

TOLEDO, OHIO — Patchy to widespread dense fog is blanketing much of northwest Ohio, northeast Indiana and southern Michigan this morning, Wednesday, October 21, with visibilities dropping below half a mile in many locations. The fog is expected to linger until about 10 a.m. ET, creating hazardous travel conditions during the morning commute. MDOT will switch the M-26/Canal Road signal to flash mode in October

Michigan Department of Transportation will switch over the M-26 Canal Road traffic light to flash mode next week. Beginning October 28th MDOT will flip the switch and convert the traffic intersection’s signal from the normal red-yellow-green rotation to a flashing signal. The light was installed by the department to adjust driving behavior on M-26 and provide more time for drivers turning left onto Canal Road or onto the highway from the local roadway.
