HARBOR SPRINGS, MI - The Enchanted Trail winter adventure at The Highlands at Harbor Springs has been drawing night-hike fans for a few years now. This year, there will be new surprises for people who take the winding pathways past trees decorated with all kinds of lights to lead the way.

Constance Fenimore Woolson, a 19th-century author from Cleveland, is commemorated on Michigan's Mackinac Island. The memorial, Anne’s Tablet, is a bronze plaque on a bluff near Fort Mackinac. It recognizes Woolson for her novel, “Anne,” which depicts her appreciation for the island. The book provides a detailed portrayal of mid-1800s life on Mackinac Island.

Christmas is coming to Colonial Michilimackinac in Mackinaw City on Dec. 9. Storytellers will bring to life the stories of the old trading post, including a retelling of the first Christmas at Mackinac in 1679. Also true to life in the 18th century, the church at Ste. Anne’s will be prepared for Christmas Mass as it would have been in the days of yore. (Though the church itself is a reconstruction built on the original location of the chapel in 1873, its roots date back all the way to the early 1700s.) The whole family can enjoy historic games on the Parade Ground plus craft stations to make something special to take home. And don’t miss the seasonal treats and snacks available throughout the fort. PETOSKEY — It takes a team. That might just be the motto of the Petoskey boys basketball program even more so this season. Household names don’t make up the roster like past years, there are no players that’ll regularly drop 30 on any given night. But, a group that can win games together? Absolutely.

Live reindeer will be prancing to the library 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. This is a unique opportunity to see these gentle creatures up close.
