Hazeltine National Golf Club plans onsite lodging, new short course

Onsite lodging and new golf amenities are proposed to be built at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska.
The private golf club is scheduled to host the 2029 Ryder Cup and, in a memo to city officials, leaders of the club said the proposed development could help attract more large-scale events.
The preliminary plan proposes the construction of eight one-story, walk-out-style villas with four bedrooms each, for a total of 32 on-site guest bedrooms.
According to planning documents, the rental villas would be exclusively available to club members for overnight stays.
A new putting course and a new, 10-hole short course, which would together span 12 acres, are proposed to be built to the west of the villas. The development is planned for a 13-acre stretch of land on the northwest portion of the 335-acre property.
"The location proposed for the villas is centralized between the existing clubhouse and new putting and short courses," the proposal submitted to the city reads. "This layout will ensure guests are in close proximity to the clubhouse amenities while being a distance far enough away to maintain a level of privacy."
A preliminary site and building plan application and a rezoning request related to the development will be reviewed by the Chaska Planning Commission during Wednesday's regular meeting.
The proposal notes that Hazeltine is one of only a few golf clubs in the nation to have hosted every premier golf championship offered by the USGA and PGA of America, and the only club in the nation chosen to host the Ryder Cup for a second time.
"The proposed site amenities will allow the club to better accommodate these high-profile events and further elevate Hazeltine National as well as the City of Chaska," the proposal reads.
