Several people hurt after two-story deck collapses at west Charlotte home

Multiple people were hurt after a two-story deck collapsed in west Charlotte.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. on Saturday at a home on Hadlow Court near Windy Grove Road.

MEDIC said that nine people were hurt.

One person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, another person was seriously injured.

MEDIC said that seven people had minor injuries.

At the scene, veteran crime reporter, Glenn Counts, learned the back deck had collapsed in the middle while a group of family and friends were on it.

MEDIC brought their mass casualty bus to transport injured patients from the scene.

“What we found is we had a total of 11 patients, 2 with possible life-threatening injuries and the rest with assorted injuries, orthopedic and abrasions and contusions they fell approximately 12 feet all the patients were transported to area trauma centers,” Kenny Phillips with MEDIC said.

The deck collapse is under investigation and officials have yet to figure out a cause.
