    Sierra Ferrell, Tyler Childers nominated for Americana Honors & Awards

    CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — Two artists from West Virginia and Kentucky are leading the nominations for the 2024 Americana Honors & Awards.

    Sierra Ferrell , of Charleston, West Virginia , and Tyler Childers , of Lawrence County, Kentucky , are nominated for three awards each: Album, Artist, and Song of the Year.

    Both artists have become big names in circles outside of country music fans, bringing their traditional country and bluegrass sound to the masses.

    Childers made his Billboard Hot 100 debut in 2023 with his song “ In Your Love ,” which is nominated for song of the year.

    Before that, he rose to popularity with his 2017 album, “ Purgatory ,” and the song, “ Feathered Indians ,” which has amassed almost 500 million listens on Spotify.

    Childers and Ferrell have both won the Emerging Act of the Year award in 2018 and 2022 respectively.

    Ferrell recently became known to a larger audience when she was featured on Zach Bryan’s self-titled LP in 2023 .

    She spoke to CBS Mornings reporter Anthony Mason back in March 2024 around the release of her album, “ Trail of Flowers .” When asked why she left West Virginia, she said in part, “I knew that if I stayed there, I probably wouldn’t still be alive.”
