CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The annual PanCAN Purple Stride was held at James Island County Park to help fund research to find a cure for pancreatic cancer.

The event took place Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to bring together pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters in the community.

News 2’s Chief Meteorologist Rob Fowler was the emcee of this event and he says the Purple Stride cancer walk raised close to $150,000 to find a cure!

Purple Stride USA says participation and fundraising helps pancreatic cancer patients by:

    • Offering free, personalized support and resources through PanCAN Patient Services
    • Providing molecular testing at no cost through PanCAN’s Know Your Tumor
    • Supporting PanCAN’s research priorities of finding early detection strategies and accelerating treatments
    • Creating hope!
