Local group honors those lost to suicide at International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day
“It is a club no one wants to join,” say the members of the LOSS team (Local Outreach to Survivors of Suicide) of Moore County. They are talking about the surviving family and friends of people who have taken their own lives. Those left behind by suicide are called survivors by the mental health community, and the LOSS team was set up to help them through their trauma. On November 18, International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day (ISSLD), the LOSS team and others were at Memorial Hospice and Home Health in Dumas and conducted a ceremony for local survivors, including members of the LOSS team, to honor their loved ones who had died by suicide.
