Sam Fox parts ways with Fox Restaurant Concepts. 'Bittersweet'

Sam Fox, one of Arizona's most prolific restaurateurs, announced he has stepped away from his group Fox Restaurant Concepts after nearly three decades. The move will allow Fox to focus on his latest venture, Author & Edit Hospitality, which is responsible for The Global Ambassador Hotel in Phoenix and The Twelve Thirty Club in Nashville. In an exclusive interview with The Arizona Republic, Fox said that seeing how much success he's had with The Global Ambassador has inspired him to continue down the path of the hotel business. "I've been in the restaurant business all my life," Fox said. "Being able to go to work and be really excited and getting to learn a whole new sort of discipline within the hospitality business is something that really excites me." What restaurants are under Fox Restaurant Concepts? The Fox Restaurant Concepts portfolio includes Culinary Dropout, Blanco Cocina + Cantina, The Henry, Dough Bird, Flower Child, Fly Bye, The Arrogant Butcher, The Greene House, Olive & Ivy, Zinburger, Wildflower American Cuisine (not to be confused with Wildflower Bread Company) and Society Swan, as well as Pushing Daisies in Nashville. Yelp recently published its list of Top 100 Indian restaurants in the U.S. and two Phoenix restaurants made the cut. The list compiled all-time reviews for businesses listed in the Indian restaurant category, then ranked those spots based on number and rating of reviews. No state had more than 10 restaurants featured to ensure geographic diversity. Maya's Kitchen in Phoenix was No. 50 on Yelp's list. It was also one of our essential restaurants for 2026. Maya's Kitchen has 4.9 stars on Yelp and serves Indian classics like butter chicken, vegetable biryani and garlic naan. City of Spice in Phoenix was No. 91 on Yelp's list. There's an under-the-radar Jamaican restaurant in central Phoenix

For nine months, central Phoenix has had a new Jamaican restaurant, although diners are just now catching on to its existence. Dig in: Earlier this week, Axios stopped by for a pre-election night meal at Champagne Cafe + Lounge , located in an unassuming storefront at 15th Avenue and Camelback Road. The latest: Champagne Cafe opened earlier this year, but business has been slow, owner Chris Martin tells Axios. That's too bad, because the food is pretty good. Martin is considering changing the name, although he says the recent addition of an "Authentic Jamaican Restaurant" banner out front has brought in more customers. "We still want to do some more stuff eventually, but the economy is kind of up and down," says Martin, who has been in Phoenix for 20 years. The jerk chicken plate ($16) at Champagne Cafe + Lounge.
