City of Valdosta celebrates National Drinking Water Week
VALDOSTA – J.L. Lomax students recently visited the City of Valdosta’s Water Treatment Plant to celebrate National Drinking Water Week. The City of Valdosta’s Utilities Department was delighted to welcome J.L. Lomax Elementary School third-grade students to a special National Drinking Water Week Celebration Tuesday morning. The event took place at the Valdosta Water Treatment Plant, located at 3863 Guest Road, to educate students about the importance of clean drinking water and its impact on our daily lives.

VFD finds unattended cooking cause of duplex fire
VALDOSTA – The Valdosta Fire Department recently responded to a Ponderosa Drive duplex unit fire resulting from unattended cooking. On Tuesday, May 7, at 3:08 P.M., the Valdosta Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at 1326 Ponderosa Drive. The first fire unit arrived within 3 minutes to find light smoke coming from the duplex unit. One resident was treated and released for smoke inhalation. All occupants were able to evacuate prior to fire department arrival.
