UPDATE: GBI investigating death in Brooks County
QUITMAN, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating the death of a woman in Quitman on Thursday, May 9, after her children were attacked by dogs. The Brooks County Sheriff’s Office requested that the GBI investigate the death of 35-year-old Courtney Williams, according to the GBI.
Valdosta woman charged after shooting at home with children inside, police say
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - A woman is facing multiple charges after police say she shot vehicles and a home while children were inside after a family argument. On Thursday, Valdosta police officers were called to the 600 block of New Hudson Street to a report of an argument involving a woman with a gun. Witnesses reported several shots were fired.
VFD finds unattended cooking cause of duplex fire
VALDOSTA – The Valdosta Fire Department recently responded to a Ponderosa Drive duplex unit fire resulting from unattended cooking. On Tuesday, May 7, at 3:08 P.M., the Valdosta Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at 1326 Ponderosa Drive. The first fire unit arrived within 3 minutes to find light smoke coming from the duplex unit. One resident was treated and released for smoke inhalation. All occupants were able to evacuate prior to fire department arrival.
