Valdosta man sentenced to 20 years in prison following drug charge conviction
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A Valdosta man is facing over two decades of prison time after a drug possession conviction. Barry Kiya Daise, 45, is sentenced to serve 20 years in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release to be served concurrently with any probation revocation sentence deemed by the Brooks County Superior Court.

A powerful thunderstorm is expected to affect northeastern Jefferson, northwestern Madison, and southwestern Brooks counties until 7:45 PM EDT. At 7:07 PM EDT, Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm located 12 miles south of Quitman, moving northward at a speed of 10 mph. The storm poses a hazard of wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph, as indicated by radar. The impact of these gusts could result in the knocking down of tree limbs and the blowing around of unsecured objects. The locations that will be affected include Quitman, Lovett, Hamburg, Grooverville, Ashville, and Empress. The storm is not expected to produce any significant hail, with the maximum hail size being 0.00 inches. The maximum wind gusts recorded are estimated to reach 50 mph.
