Jeep Upside Down in Ditch
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday about an upside down vehicle in a ditch about a mile south of Westgate. When deputies arrived on scene they found a green Jeep Patriot Sport on its top but unoccupied. After an investigation, it was discovered that 61 year old Steven Hatter was the owner of the vehicle. He was located and allegedly admitted to losing control and entering the ditch. Hatter was apparently injured in the accident but refused medical treatment. He was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. The Jeep is considered a total loss.
Authorities Seek Public’s Help Locating Wanted Northeast Iowa Man
Authorities in northeast Iowa are seeking the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted for a variety of illegal activities. In a Facebook post, the Decorah Police Department asks for assistance in tracking down 26-year-old Brandon Joseph Kimber of Cresco for parole and probation violations in Winneshiek County. Kimber has been known to be in the Decorah and Postville area.

Disaster proclamation issued after bridge failure in northeast Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa – Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation over a border bridge in northeast Iowa. The proclamation covers Allamakee and Clayton counties and is in response to the sudden structural failure of a bridge in Lansing on February 25. The bridge on Iowa Highway 9 connects to Wisconsin Highway 35.
NE Iowa church is ‘net zero’ after converting to solar power
(Radio Iowa) – A report from the U-S Department of Energy found Iowa churches are below the national average for use of renewable energy, though a church in northeast Iowa is helping to change that. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah is one of just 17 houses of worship in Iowa that uses solar power, according to the report. Jim Fritz has been a member of the congregation for about 30 years and first proposed the idea. He says it started in his own backyard.

Cresco duo arrested for meth crimes in northeast Iowa
DECORAH, Iowa – Two people from Cresco have been arrested for drug crimes in Winneshiek County. Tracey Leuchtenmacher, 32, and Dalton Hagen, 26, are both facing two counts of a controlled substance violation involving methamphetamine. They were both arrested around 10:33 am Monday in Cresco and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail.
