(Decorah, IA) -- It's eagle egg-laying season in Iowa. The Raptor Resource Project has it's web cams focused on eagle nests. The hatching is expected at the end of March or early April. One nest that had been use by eagles in the past has been taken over by a pair of Canada Geese, for the second year in a row. Wildlife staffers have set up a goose cam.

Pen Pals program unites third graders with senior citizens
Third graders in several Allamakee County schools have discovered what it’s like to receive a letter. The students at St. Patrick’s School and in the Allamakee and Eastern Allamakee School Districts, 120 students in all, participated in pen pal programs last fall. The letters were answered by volunteers from the Northeast Iowa RSVP program, which serves Allamakee, Howard and Winneshiek Counties.

New Hampton, Waukon Bound for Upper Iowa Conference Starting 2025-26
New Hampton will make the move to the Upper Iowa Conference (UIC). Science fair Friday
Thirty Ossian eighth-grade science students vied Friday, Feb. 23, for their chance to show their science fair projects at the regional science fair, which is to be held March 4 at the Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) Calmar campus. Of the 30 Ossian science fair projects, only 10 will be chosen to be shown at NICC. All students are taught by Ossian Middle School science teacher Ana Olson-Johnson.
Quartet represent Winn. Co. on podium
Four wrestlers put Winneshiek County on the map as they climbed the podium Saturday, Feb. 17, at the boys’ state wrestling championships. South Winn’s Collin Holm was the top finisher of the four in third place at 144 pounds in Class 1A. Decorah had three on the Class 2A podiums including Tommy Sexton at 190 pounds in fourth place, Mason Avila at 132 pounds in fifth and Gavin Knutson at 106 pounds in sixth.
