Former WPXI reporter Dee Thompson dies at 84
Retired WPXI reporter DeHaven “Dee” Thompson died May 9 at age 84. Thompson worked at Channel 11 from 1974 until his retirement in 2009. WPXI meteorologist Scott Harbaugh posted a tribute on Facebook, writing, “ ‘Dee’ was one of the kindest people you would ever want to meet. … Always a smile, a kind word, a quick wit, Mr. Thompson is [a] broadcast legend in Pittsburgh. My prayers are with his family at this time. What a wonderful human being.”

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Pittsburgh City Council on Wednesday refused to authorize a final payment to a former city employee accused in connection with a series of antisemitic incidents on the North Side. Pittsburgh Controller Rachael Heisler this week raised alarms about payments to Mario Ashkar, who until his arrest had been working as a consultant to the Department of Parks and Recreation. One person injured in late-night McKeesport shooting
McKEESPORT, Pa. (KDKA) -- One person was taken to the hospital following a late-night shooting in McKeesport.The shooting happened along Scott Street just before midnight on Wednesday.Dispatchers tell KDKA that police and medics were called to the area just before midnight and that one person was taken to the hospital by medics.KDKA's overnight unit captured video of a car that appeared to be hit with bullets and had a window shot out as well.It's unclear what led up to the shooting or if police will be releasing any suspect descriptions.The condition of the person who was taken to the hospital is unknown at this time.
