(This story has been updated to add new information.) A Massachusetts-based donut and coffee company has some delays in opening new locations in Brunswick County . With one location in Leland and another in Shallotte, three more Dunkins are slowly making their way to the area. BJ's Wholesale Club eyes a new location in Horry County. Here's what we know

A popular northeastern wholesale supermarket chain is looking to expand into North Myrtle Beach after opening its first Grand Strand location last year. BJ’s Wholesale Club submitted development plans to the City of North Myrtle Beach for a new location between Champions Boulevard and South Carolina Highway 90. The proposal comes after the company opened its first Horry County store in Myrtle Beach in February 2025. BJ’s is based in Massachusetts and, according to its website, BJ’s has 8.5 million members across its 270 stores in 22 states. The Sun News was unable to reach the company for comment, but preliminary plans submitted to North Myrtle Beach reveal some details about the proposed location. The building would be around 106,628 square feet, including a 3,400-square-foot tire service area, with 381 parking spaces. The rendering also describes signage for a gas station.

A North Myrtle Beach Italian restaurant is now opening a second location. Benitos Brick Oven and Pasta at 1598 Highway 17 S. was taken over by new owners three years ago, according to general manager Christian Lavallade. After the success with the restaurant, the owners decided to build a second location at 4410 U.S. 17 South in Murrells Inlet . It will be next door to Luna Mexican Bar and Grill, which is part of the owners’ restaurant group, Lavallade said. The second Benitos will be the “smaller brother” of the two, Lavallade said. While it will offer some of the same items on the original menu, the restaurant will be more upscale, adding steaks and seafood dishes, he said. The restaurant is expected to open in about three to four weeks, pending final inspections, Lavallade said.

5 Best Restaurants in Wilmington, North Carolina You Need to Try Before Everyone Else Finds Them

Wilmington, North Carolina — a city where the Cape Fear River glimmers beneath Spanish moss, where pastel houses lean into the Atlantic breeze, and where the laughter of surfers, students, and old-timers mingles on sun-warmed sidewalks. Here, the architecture is a patchwork: antebellum mansions, weathered bungalows, neon-lit diners, and the ever-present hush of the ocean. Wilmington is a crossroads — of Southern tradition and saltwater dreams, of families who’ve called it home for generations and newcomers drawn by the promise of possibility.
