With Corning Incorporated announcing big plans and jobs for Wilmington, Brunswick County also has several industrial developments in the pipeline. Brunswick County continues to grow in population and development, and two big manufacturing companies plan to bring hundreds of jobs to the area with the potential for a third. Brunswick Business and Industry Development has multiple projects under their arm amid receiving $6.275 million in grant funding from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. The funding will be used to improve the Mid-Atlantic Industrial Rail Park Megasite and prepare it for prospective industrial businesses. Some identified improvements include site clearing, rail bed construction and mitigation credits for wetland protection efforts. The park spans across 1,100 acres near the Brunswick-Columbus county border and is one of two megasites located in the county represented by Brunswick Business and Industry Development. The park also connects to the Port of Wilmington via a CSX main rail line. Currently, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is constructing an access road to the Mid-Atlantic Industrial Rail Park, Brunswick Business and Industry Development Executive Director Bill Early said. BJ's Wholesale Club eyes a new location in Horry County. Here's what we know

A popular northeastern wholesale supermarket chain is looking to expand into North Myrtle Beach after opening its first Grand Strand location last year. BJ’s Wholesale Club submitted development plans to the City of North Myrtle Beach for a new location between Champions Boulevard and South Carolina Highway 90. The proposal comes after the company opened its first Horry County store in Myrtle Beach in February 2025. The warehouse chain uses a club system where only members shop in its stores, similar to Costco or Sam’s Club. BJ’s is based in Massachusetts and, according to its website, BJ’s has 8.5 million members across its 270 stores in 22 states. The Sun News was unable to reach the company for comment, but preliminary plans submitted to North Myrtle Beach reveal some details about the proposed location. The building would be around 106,628 square feet, including a 3,400-square-foot tire service area, with 381 parking spaces. The rendering also describes signage for a gas station.
