WVU baseball thwarts late TCU comeback in 6-5 win
WVU (33-20, 19-11 Big 12) avoided a late collapse and defeated TCU (31-19, 14-16 Big 12) 6-5 at Lupton Baseball Stadium in Forth Worth, Texas, Saturday evening. TCU starter Louis Rodriguez looked like he was sailing through a smooth first inning before he plunked WVU right fielder Sam White with two outs and a 1-2 count at the plate. Three pitches later, third baseman Reed Chumley lined an opposite-field RBI double into the right-center gap to give WVU an early 1-0 lead. First baseman Grant Hussey then matched Chumley when he golfed an RBI double into the left-field corner to go up 2-0.

Back in the spring of 2020, COVID reared its ugly head, all sports were canceled, and there was no definitive answers on when anything was coming back. Here at EerSports, that led to a lot of stories around this time that were more 'evergreen' or at least not related to what was happening at that exact moment.... because nothing was happening, sports-wise, at that moment. Some of those stories are outdated. Some were obviously meant to just fill space. But a few I felt like we could go back to and rehash every couple years.
