CANFIELD , Ohio (WKBN) — The Canfield Fair announced on Friday some major improvement plans ahead of its 2024 season.

OVI checkpoints planned Friday night, early Saturday

The fence around the race track will be replaced, and new doors will be installed on the rabbit and poultry buildings. The Coliseum at the north end of the fairgrounds will be painted and pressure washed.

The Canfield Fair is comprised of over 350 acres and 70-plus buildings.

“Keeping the Fairgrounds updated, and welcoming is paramount for the Canfield Fair Board and a continual conversation that we have throughout the year,” 2024 Board President Dave Mannion said in a news release. “We want to put our best foot forward every day, but having a deadline at the end of August each year really keeps us on task. The grounds need to look their best when we have over 300,000 of our closest friends on the property.”

Demolition of a house on the southwest corner of the grounds also started a few weeks ago. This demolition was done in conjunction with the Cardinal Joint Fire District which used the controlled burn as a training exercise.

Another training exercise is planned with the Cardinal Joint Fire District, which includes a controlled burn of the Pumpkin Barn. The pumpkin display and the commemorative photo sign will be located 50 feet from its usual home, at the Grange Building.

The Canfield Fair is celebrating its 178th year in 2024. This year’s fair will run from August 28 to September 2. For more information on the Canfield Fair, visit their website .
