‘Could be life savers’: Pike County investing in weather radios for rural areas
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The Pike County Fiscal Court is purchasing weather radios to keep people in the most rural areas informed and prepared for severe weather. During Tuesday’s meeting of the Pike County Fiscal Court, the court voted to purchase 5,000 weather radios for Pike County Emergency Management, saying the $130,750 investment is grant-funded. And while the radios will not the cost the county any money, officials say it will give many people the minutes needed to prepare for potential disasters.

Donald Kyle Deskins, 54, of Kimper, was arrested Aug. 31 and charged with murder and evidence tampering for the death of his wife, who died in April of 2021.
