PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man has been arrested after police say he stole two cars from students at the University of Pikeville. Pikeville Police were originally called to the second theft just after midnight on Monday, when they received a report that a car had been taken from the top floor of the Hambley Boulevard parking garage. While investigating that case, police learned that UPike Public Safety had received several reports of cars being broken into over the weekend, as well as another case of a car being stolen, only to be returned to the same parking lot a short time later.

A Delbarton woman was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase earlier this week. According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 26, an officer was on routine patrol on U.S. 119 near Borderland when he spotted a vehicle in the southbound lanes traveling at a high rate of speed.

The past week has been a deadly one in West Virginia, as five people have lost their lives in four separate fires. The first fatality occurred Nov.29th in the town of Cabins in Grant County. The victim in that fire was a 58 year old male. WV State Fire Marshal investigators have ruled the fire as undetermined in cause but most likely accidental in nature.
