Rep. Jeff Helfrich’s district includes Gresham and Sandy. Tuesday, May 21, is Oregon’s statewide primary election. Building Clouds, Evening Rain
Good Morning. Today's main weather maker is a system moving into the area for today and passing overhead tonight. With this, expect for cloud activity to steadily increase through the day. We will start the morning off with little cloud cover inland, but a deck of continuous grey will be visible off the Coast. As the system approaches, the deck will move closer in and eventually dominate the sky. Into the late afternoon, rainfall will begin from the North and drop towards the South. This band of rainfall will not make it as far South as Roseburg. Although today's system will bring cold air into the area, we will see regular heating through today before the cold air arrives. So, today's highs will be in the mid 70's for the Basin, High 60's along the Valley, and just hit 60 on the Coast. More significant cooling and more widespread showers are set for tomorrow.

Guest Column: An elemental matter
What if I were to tell you that bringing a criminal matter before the court is akin to a matter of chemistry? In order for the Coos County Sheriff’s Office to make a case, we must establish that a crime did, in fact occur. In order to do that, we must meet the element of the crime as set forth in Oregon Revised Statute. Only if the elements come together can we make an arrest, or refer a matter to the Coos County District Attorney’s Office with a referral for prosecution. ...
