Wood County property values increase after auditor’s update

BOWLING GREEN — Homeowners in Wood County could see a significant increase in their property value after the county auditor’s most recent update. Wood County property values have been updated to reflect the 2026 triennial update, the auditor’s office said in a news release. Countywide, residential values increased by an average of 19 percent. Parcels could see an increase more or less than this average due to location, desirability, and condition. “We strive for fair values, with uniformity always as our top priority, so that similar properties carry an equitable tax burden,” Wood County Auditor Matthew Oestreich said. Mr. Oestreich said the value adjustment reflects two important factors. First, the increase reflects the local real estate market, where values have increased in the past three years. “Wood County is a great place to live and raise a family, and buyers are willing to pay higher prices for the many benefits of living here,” Mr. Oestreich said. “Limited housing inventory, higher construction costs driven by inflation, and homeowners holding on to historically low mortgage interest rates have all contributed to rising home prices.” Second, recent property tax reforms at the state level have changed the relationship between property value and property
