Lyndon man arrested for repeatedly violating court orders
LYNDON — A 48-year-old Lyndon man has been arrested for violating court-ordered conditions by contacting the alleged victim multiple times, Vermont State Police reported. Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to a call at 6:30 p.m. on May 6 at 59 Kate Street, where they investigated a complaint involving Richard John.

Republican Vermont Gov. Phil Scott is running for reelection to 5th term
MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Republican Gov. Phil Scott is running for reelection to a fifth two-year term in the largely blue state of Vermont. Scott announced his reelection bid on Saturday, saying there’s more work to do. “During my four terms as Governor, my team and I have worked to grow the economy, make Vermont more affordable, and protect the most vulnerable,” he said in a statement. “I’ve done my best to rise above partisanship to solve problems, and help people.” While progress has been made, he said he cannot step away when the Democrat-controlled Legislature is “so far out of balance.” Scott and the legislature have clashed over spending and taxes and he’s vetoed a number of its bills in recent years and is expected to veto more. The Legislature has pushed back and overturned some of the vetoes.
Sheriffs without top license could see a pay decrease
MONTPELIER, Vt. — In Montpelier, a bill is now in the process of being sent to the governor's desk that would alter how sheriffs are paid. Under the bill, a sheriff who does not have a law enforcement certification would see their pay cut by 30%; at the moment, that would only affect Franklin Co. Sheriff John Grismore, who had his revoked back in December.
Montpelier police arrest Barre City woman for violating release conditions
MONTPELIER — A Barre City woman was arrested by Montpelier police on May 5 at 6:24 p.m. for violating her conditions of release. Sergeant Benjamin Michaud observed the 35-year-old woman purchasing alcoholic beverages at a convenience store on Berlin Street, a violation of her court-ordered conditions that prohibit such actions.

CONCORD — A local woman was cited for false pretenses after allegedly using another person’s debit card information without consent, Vermont State Police reported Tuesday. Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were contacted by Cheri Kinney, 42, of Concord, on Jan. 16 at 9:05 a.m., who claimed her debit card information had been used by Jazmyn Cummings, 28, also from Concord.

Notch Road opens for the season
STOWE, Vt. (WCAX) - A sign of the season -- Smugglers’ Notch is now open to drivers. VTrans says scenic Route 108 officially opened at noon Tuesday.
