Barre man charged in assault of pregnant woman
BARRE, Vt. (WCAX) - A Barre man is behind bars after police say he abused the mother of his unborn child. The Vermont State Police say troopers responded to a home in Cabot Tuesday after a woman says George Grant, 38, was having a mental health issue. Police say Grant punched the victim in the stomach three times and poured turpentine on her. He was arrested Wednesday at a nearby cabin.

Cabot man arrested for aggravated domestic assault
CABOT — A Cabot man was taken into custody by Vermont State Police on charges of first degree aggravated domestic assault following an incident on Dec. 5. Authorities said they responded to a domestic altercation at approximately 5:19 p.m. where they learned that George Grant, 38, had allegedly assaulted a family member.
Marshfield man charged with DUI after single-vehicle crash
MARSHFIELD — Troopers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on US RT 2 in Marshfield where they found the driver showing signs of impairment. Caleb Kennison, 24, of Plainfield, was taken into custody under suspicion of driving under the influence at around 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 2.
Man sentenced in 2017 Newbury fatality
BARRE—David Gilbo of Newbury can avoid prison time after pleading guilty on Nov. 30 to a misdemeanor criminal charge of grossly negligent operation in driving a pickup truck that struck and killed a Ryegate man at P&H Truck Stop.
Single-vehicle crash on I-91 S leaves Jeep with extensive damage
ST. JOHNSBURY — A single-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 91 South near mile marker 134 on Dec. 9 at 3:19 p.m., according to Vermont State Police. Kendra Noyes, 55, of Lyndonville, was driving her 2019 Jeep Cherokee when she reportedly took her eyes off the road for a moment, leading to the collision with the guard rail.

An Interview with Montpelier Police Chief Eric Nordenson
Eric Nordenson has worked at the Montpelier Police Department for nearly 27 years, starting as a parole officer and working his way up to becoming chief in 2022. Nordenson grew up in Milford, Mass., and, by his own account, has wanted to be a police officer since high school. A series of events — including graduating from Castleton State College in 1997 having studied criminal justice and sociology, and helping out a friend, George Cook, with coaching the girls soccer team at Montpelier High School — led him to Montpelier. The Bridge’s editor-in-chief sat down with Nordenson for an interview earlier this fall.
